There’s so many things in the transportation industry that you can do. You don’t just have to be a truck driver. You can do anything. I went from being a truck driver to a dispatcher to a transportation manager to now a safety manager. This industry, it’s the bedrock of our entire country.

A soon as I graduated, I had a full-time job working. The pay just shot up. Without us, the world stops. We’re tanker drivers. We provide gas and diesel, and jet fuel. My kids see me doing it, and they love seeing the trucks going down the road. Me being able to provide for them…and not having to struggle. . .it means a lot.

I tell people all the time – if you have a CDL, you have a job. . .I’m making way more money; I’m way more fulfilled. My biggest regret is I didn’t do it ten years sooner.

I have actually been a truck driver for eleven years. There’s definitely opportunities to grow; there’s opportunities to make really good money. It’s opened up a lot, especially for us as women.

I kinda tried everything. . .diesel’s really what stuck. . .When you get done with either one – the diploma or associates, you pretty much hit the ground running. . .Realistically – you start this program – you are going to come out of it with a job.
